Have you had a chance to play with today’s Google Doodle featuring Jim Henson’s Muppets? It’s only up for a limited time, in honor of his 75th birthday.
If you missed it, it should be archived here http://www.google.com/logos (search for Sept. 24, 2011 date) along with previous Google Doodles, including this one (a favorite of mine) in honor of Les Paul’s 96th Birthday: http://www.google.com/logos/2011/lespaul.html
I had the honor of meeting Mr. Henson in New York City before his passing; he inspired creativity and fun in so many young lives with his puppets. Nice to see Google offering this interactive Google Doodle.
Here’s the background story of the creation of the Doodle via HensonCompany YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwKVnrLCkuk and a blog post on Google’s official blog written by Henson’s son, Brian Henson http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/09/remembering-my-dad-jim-henson.html
The social experience is the sharing of unique Google Doodle creations through discussions, tweets, Facebook wall posts and recorded videos, uploaded to YouTube like my examples below. If you can record, edit and upload videos quickly, in a timely manner, it can open up opportunities to connect with people on a worldwide basis who are creating videos on the same topic, at the same time (in this case, Google Doodles).
Here’s a video I made with the Muppets Google Doodle:
…and a previous video made with the Les Paul Google Doodle:
Did you spend time on the Google Home Page playing with the Google Doodle? Go ahead, it’s ok to admit it, we can have fun every once in a while, can’t we? : )
