Global Social Media Editor-SEC000AI

As Global Social Media Editor, you’ll manage editorial updates for Ernst & Young’s social media properties, and create and develop new social media initiatives. In addition, you’ll play a key role in overseeing the Careers section of ey.com, as well as helping the webcast team with copywriting. Finally, you’ll be part of a pool of digital editors, editing additional material for digital media as needed.
Essential functions of the job:

  • Manage editorial updates for Ernst & Young’s social media properties, including the EYNews Twitter account,  blogs, and any new social media initiatives
  • Play a significant role in conceiving and developing new social media efforts, and liaising with our recruiting teams to help update Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and blogs
  • Edit the Careers section of ey.com, updating it as needed. This will include writing promotional copy, cross-promoting Careers features to other sections of ey.com, and distributing global Careers updates through Ernst & Young’s network of country sites
  • Write promotional copy for the webcast team, to promote specific webcasts on ey.com and newsletters
  • Be part of a pool of digital editors, editing additional material for digital media as needed. This will include:

-       editing thought leadership material for the web
-       writing teasers and site copy to gain the maximum traffic and usage
-       adhering to brand standards and search engine optimization
-       creating new ideas to enhance the content, (such as adding video, multimedia, surveys and Ernst & Young Laboratories innovations)
-       developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in business units, primarily in recruiting
-       analyzing metrics to determine the effectiveness of the content, and acting on these to improve site performance
-       handing off optimized content to site producers and /or publishers to enter into the content management system

  • Decision-making responsibilities:
  • Account for editorial decisions on placement, prioritization, editing of material, and copywriting
  • Edit documents for web readability, ability to scan, and quality of presentation, using all best practices of digital media
  • Manage the demand for projects and prioritize resources accordingly
  • Balance competing priorities and multiple projects. Deal with a range of senior stakeholders with varying perspectives
  • Challenge the status quo, using appropriate diplomacy

Knowledge and skills requirements:
·        Demonstrated ability to:
-       influence senior stakeholders
-       adapt to constantly changing work requirements while assimilating, analyzing and applying new information
-       take the initiative and be proactive in a fast-paced and highly challenging environment
-       quickly define problems, collect input, conduct assessments, draw conclusions and solve problems
Ability to manage and resolve a conflict
Social media experience. This includes a strong familiarity with blogs, Twitter and other social media networks, and the best practices of writing and editing for these outlets
Ability to edit print documents into streamlined experiences, following best practices of web usability (ability to scan)
Adept at writing effective web copy including engaging teasers, headlines, and tweets that drive traffic to interior pages
Cross-promotion skills, with an ability to relate content items across site pages and sections for relevant audiences
Search engine optimization skills, with a strong knowledge of best practices, and an ability to adapt writing and content editing to search engines
Multimedia skills, with an ability to conceive how digital content in different formats (text, video, interactive) forms the whole user experience. Ability to translate these ideas into practical executions
Relationship management skills, with a strong ability to develop and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to follow all appropriate approval processes before publishing external content.
Working knowledge of ey.com content.
Strong communication skills, which support the change management associated with rebuilding a global, digital presence. These include an ability to raise awareness, train the team, improve the site, and implement changes to the content process
Ability to work in teams in a matrix environment
·  English language skills – excellent written and verbal communication
Strong influencing skills
Strong understanding of “go-to-market” strategy

To qualify, candidates must have: bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
approximately 5-8 years of relevant work experience; previous project management experience is desirable
may require travel, some overtime up to 10% is also expected

Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Good understanding of knowledge management principles.
Strong project and time management ability.
Good verbal and written communication and facilitation skills.
Must be able to work independently, complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-pace environment.
Strong leadership, analytical and research skills.
Works and teams effectively with clients and other personnel.
Proficiency in MS Office, Lotus Notes, PhotoShop, DreamWeaver, and development technologies (JAVA and HTML).
